I stepped on the scale this morning because I just couldn’t help myself, and I’m .8 pounds lighter than yesterday!¬† ūüôā¬† I think all total I have lost around five¬†pounds this week alone.¬† Hello cardio!

It’s a hot one¬†again here in Florida.¬† I don’t think we get any easing into the heat this year, just BAM, here I am!

I read an article yesterday on how to double your calorie burn during workouts (Six Tips To Double Your Calorie Burn).  One method I am going to incorporate into my routine is extra weight when doing my cardio.  My cardio is always done in my wheelchair, so I will put some weights in my backpack and strap it on the back of my chair, then I will be pushing more weight for more of a calorie burn.  The more weight I lose, the more I will continue to add to the pack.  

I need to do¬†some strength training as well as cardio today, I’ve been slacking a bit on that this week.¬† Maybe some push-ups, crunches, and some crawling would be a good mix.

Cardio should be fun in this heat later today.¬† Although we go around 6pm, it’s¬†still like a sauna outside.

Last night’s full moon was the first one of the year that I have been able to enjoy. My daughter and I were out shopping and I stopped in the middle of the parking lot to take the photo below. I only wish I had my good camera with me, and I usually do, grrr.

I am one of those people who lives by the moon. I am a firm believer in its effects. So much so that I garden by it. I follow my Farmer’s Almanac to the letter. I also truly believe it effects us humans in ways we don’t even realize. Well… most of us don’t realize. I can tell when the moon is full just by how my body feels.

In short; I love a full moon!

So amping up the exercise is paying off. I also haven’t been “watching” what I eat so much as just keeping the portions right and keeping my calories down. This makes for a much happier me. Strict diets are not the way to go anyway. I’m not eating junk food, but I am allowing myself to eat what I want; sort of. I just pay closer attention to how good or bad something is for my body, then I keep the portions and calories in check. It’s a much easier method then trying to do these different diets that never work for the long-term, and they certainly do not make me happy.

Moving around more is key of course, and I have definitely been doing a lot of that. It feels good all around, but it’s also helping with the weight loss as well.

50 days and 7 weeks in and I’ve lost a whole 4 pounds.¬† WTF.

UGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I just seem to go up and down, up and down, like the same damn roller coaster I’ve been riding for the last 10 years!¬† This is really getting annoying to say the least.

I¬†eat great;¬† no junk, not going over around 1300 calories per day, and I’ve been drinking water by the gallon.¬†¬† I guess I just haven’t been getting in enough exercise.¬† I don’t guess, I know.¬† I also know I’m really getting sick of this bullsh*t.¬† If it takes my getting blazing mad for something to change, then so be it.

Time to develop an eating disorder… (j/k)

Water, water, and more water.¬† I can’t stress enough the importance of¬†drinking enough water.¬† Even still, I have to remind myself, and force myself, to drink enough.¬† Sad, but true.¬† After everything I have read over the years about how important water is for our bodies, you would think I would be chomping at the bit to get enough.¬† But, like all of us, I have to consciously remind myself “oh, it’s time to make my water”.¬† I fill a 20 oz. glass with ice and clean water.¬† I drink 5 of those a day.¬† Yup, five.¬† That’s 100¬†ounces of water per day – or just under a gallon.¬† I just recently read somewhere that to find the amount of water we¬†need to¬†drink per day, you take your weight (207), cut it in half (103.5), and that’s how many ounces of water you should drink per day.¬† So I don’t get that 3.5 ounces… hey, I’m drinking water aren’t I?

The list of benefits of proper hydration are endless.¬† Considering our bodies are made¬†mostly of water, it’s a no-brainer.¬† With proper hydration; your hair, skin and nails will be stronger, healthier and more vibrant.¬† Your digestive system will function at its optimum¬†level so you will be an optimum¬†pooper¬†(very important!).¬†¬†Provided you are getting enough fiber in your diet (also very important), water is even more important to keep things moving.¬† Water is key in removing waste products from our bodies, including fat.¬† Getting enough water keeps our joints lubed, our muscles from getting as sore after a workout, and helps us get better sleep.¬† Water plays a part in the proper function of every single cell in your body,¬†and¬†when you think about that,¬†since our entire bodies are made up of nothing but¬†cells, then our entire bodies will function better¬†in every single aspect.¬† And for the women – the reason we bloat during that time of the month is because our bodies are storing water.¬† Drink more water and experience less bloat!

Trying to lose weight?¬† Then water is even more important.¬† If you’re trying to lose the fat, where is it going to go if it doesn’t have a water highway to be¬†carried out on?¬† Not to mention water-soluble vitamins.¬† Where would they be without water?¬† And don’t even get me started on exercise and how much more important water becomes then!

One of my excuses when I was young and dumb was “But it makes me pee more!”¬† First off, that’s kind of the point.¬† Secondly, at first yes, drinking a bunch of water will make you pee more, but it’s because your body is adjusting, and it’s removing all the toxins and sludge that have built up in your system from being dehydrated for so long.¬† Oh, and ya, water helps the lining of your bladder regenerate more frequently causing less frequent urges and a healthier elimination system.

I could ramble on all day about the benefits of water, but I won’t.¬† Water removes excess sodium.¬† Just keep in mind that with anything we do with our bodies, water is the most important thing we can put into them.¬† We can only live a few days without water.¬† You can’t get enough hydration from the water that is in your beer, soda, tea, coffee, or juice.¬† Water is good.¬†¬†In fact, these things will dehydrate you, not¬†hydrate you.¬† Water is great.¬†¬† You have to drink pure, clean, filtered water.¬† Water rules!¬† And you have to drink plenty, and every single day.

Still not convinced?¬† Think of it this way… water is the source of all life, without it, there would be no life.
